What does the curator team of the The Metropolitan Museum of Art say about the 19th century work of art from the writer, illustrator, painter, etcher and lithographer James McNeill Whistler? (© Copyright - by The Metropolitan Museum of Art - Le Metropolitan Museum of Art)
The progressive expatriate James McNeill Whistler is associated with the "art for art’s sake" philosophy, which privileged artistic form over content. Yet his subjects were often seen to be as radical as his ethereal color harmonies. In this so-called nocturne, painted in London’s Cremorne Gardens (near his Chelsea home-studio), Whistler explores the theme of modern life embraced by many of his European associates, especially the French Impressionists. An elegant, manicured park that drew fashionable strollers during the daytime hours, the Gardens at night became a site for lively music, dancing, and fireworks, frequented by a broader range of classes.

Choisissez votre matériel
In the product dropdown menu you can pick a material and a sizeaccording to your personal preferences. Therefore, we allow you to choose among the following options:
- Impression métallique (aluminium dibond): Aluminium Dibond prints are prints on metal with an outstanding effect of depth. A non-reflective surface creates a contemporary impression. The white & bright parts of the work of art shine with a silky gloss but without the glare.
- Impression sur toile: The printed canvas, which shall not be confused with a real painting on a canvas, is a digital replica applied on a cotton canvas material. Your canvas of this artpiece will allow you to transform your fine art print into a large size artpiece as you would see in a gallery. Canvas Prints have the advantage of being relatively low in weight. This means, it is quite simple to hang up the Canvas print without any wall-mounts. Canvas prints are suited for all types of walls.
- Impression d'affiche (matériel de toile): A poster is a UV printed canvas paper with a slightly roughened surface structure. Please bear in mind, that depending on the absolute size of the poster print we add a white margin of around 2-6cm around the work of art to facilitate the framing with your custom frame.
- Impression sur verre acrylique: A glossy print on acrylic glass, often described as a plexiglass print, transforms the original into décor. Besides, the acrylic glass fine art print offers a great alternative to aluminium or canvas fine art prints. The work of art is being made with modern UV direct printing machines. With an acrylic glass fine art print sharp contrasts plus minor artwork details will be more visible due to the granular gradation of the print. The acrylic glass protects your selected art print against sunlight and heat for decades.
