Les «Ménologues» sont de larges planches divisées en trois rangées sur lesquelles sont disposés les uns à côté des autres des saints ou des scènes représentant des fêtes. Chaque icône illustre un mois de l'année liturgique. C'est aussi un recueil de textes chantés ou joués à l'église, tous les jours de l'année liturgique, en l'honneur des saints ou du jour et / ou de la fête. Cette icône appartenait à un ensemble de douze icônes, dont quatre sont conservées au Petit Palais.
