Description supplémentaire du Metropolitan Museum of Art (© - The Metropolitan Museum of Art - Le Metropolitan Museum of Art)
This study of pansies in a basket was painted the year before the artist's death. Although the motif is reprised from his larger and more highly finished composition of 1874, Still Life with Pansies (66.194), these flowers were probably painted from life, which is consistent with Fantin's practice.
